Soarin' Beyond the Sport is a series in which members of the Post University Athletic Communications Team sit down with student-athletes across all the varsity athletic programs offered at Post University to learn more about interesting stories about the players off the field, court, ice, etc., in a short interview format. All the interview questions, filming, editing, and write-ups are done by the featured member of the Athletic Communications Team to help them gain new experiences in a variety of important aspects in the field.
In this episode, Athletic Communications Fall Intern Racine Ly talks with junior midfielder Reese Kloetzer from Post University Women's Soccer about her mental health advocacy, her experiences as a residential advisor on campus, and her future career goals.
WATERBURY, Conn. -- Junior midfielder Reese Kloetzer from Sartell, Minnesota wrapped up her 2025 season with the Post University Women's Soccer team this fall, starting in 11 of the 16 games she played, scoring three goals and adding one assist on the season. Kloetzer also made the CSC Academic All-District Team.
In this interview, Kloetzer discusses why she started playing soccer and what led her to decide to attend Post University.
Off the field, Kloetzer is a big advocate for mental health. This past season, she honored her late friend, Sophie Wieland, with the "Sophie Squad" game against Daemen University to raise awareness for mental health struggles. The message was to promote that it is "okay to not be okay" and encourage others to reach out to their loved ones and mental health organizations. Kloetzer also serves as a residential advisor at Post, mentioning how her experiences as an RA positively translate to the soccer field.
Once she graduates from Post, Kloetzer hopes to become a behavioral or occupational therapist. She is currently a behavioral therapist at The Center for Children with Special Needs in Farmington, Connecticut, where she works alongside other therapists and children.
The 2026 season with the Women's Soccer program will mark Kloetzer's senior year with the Eagles.
