Study Hall
Post University is committed to assisting all student-athletes achieve academic success by providing the necessary support, personal attention and services needed to attain a four-year college degree. All students participating in athletics will be required to comply with the following academic program. The student-athlete academic policy assists and benefits the academic growth and achievement for each individual student.
Responsibility And Accountability
In order to achieve academic success at Post University, the students must realize they are
ultimately responsible for themselves. Despite faculty and staff assistance, students must prove they are motivated to earn a college degree. Commitment to hard work in the classroom is a necessity, and the students' primary goal should be to make sure they handle their academic affairs accordingly.
Class Attendance
Class attendance is mandatory for all student-athletes! Students who fail to attend class will be reprimanded and subjected to specific penalties. Regular class attendance is essential to your academic growth and success. All student-athletes must comply with the following class attendance guidelines:
- All students must conform to their instructors' attendance policies.
- Must report to all classes on time.
- Do NOT leave class early.
- Be attentive! Sit in front of the class and always take good notes.
- Participate! Class participation is always beneficial to learning and grades.
- Do NOT be a disturbance! You are in class to learn, not socialize with classmates.
Class Absences
Class absences will only be tolerated for health-related reasons, urgent and last minute emergencies, and game day conflicts. For game day conflicts, the academic coordinator has created a class absence form that lists the dates and times student-athletes will miss class due to athletic competitions.
The student-athlete MUST present this form to the professor at the very beginning of each semester. The professor and student must sign the form. Class absences due to games are minimal; however it is the STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY to communicate with instructors to make up any work that needs to be completed, and any notes that were missed.
Students must communicate with instructors if class is missed due to illness. See school nurse Carol Enright, located between East & South Hall (ext. 4503). CLICK HERE for more information on Health Services.
Progress Reports
Advising sends weekly grade reports to Athletic Compliance which is then distributed out to the respective Head Coaches.
Appointments
It is the students' responsibility to ensure that all necessary academic meetings with their instructors, advisors and academic coordinators are met and fulfilled. Students are strongly recommended to communicate throughout the entire semester with their professors, and are encouraged to schedule any meetings during the instructors' posted office hours if extra help is needed.
