HARTFORD, Conn. – As junior midfielder
Markus Boe Tunge put it in his postgame interview, it was not the prettiest win for the Post University Men's Soccer team, but it was one the Eagles could be satisfied with. After being outscored 12-0 over their last two games, Post righted the ship in a big way at Trinity Health Stadium in Hartford, Connecticut against unbeaten University of New Haven, shutting out the Chargers and getting back into the win column with a 1-0 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a relatively quiet night on both sides when it came to the stat sheet which saw Post and New Haven practically dead even in nearly every category by the end of the match. Both teams finished with 12 shots apiece while the Eagles held a slight 5-4 advantage in shots on goal while also leading 5-2 in corner kicks as well. In a low-scoring, defensive match, each goalie only had to make four saves each, and New Haven committed 13 fouls compared to Post's two but when it came to yellow cards it was the Eagles with four and Chargers with two by the end of the night.
The first 45 minutes featured 10 combined shots but only one shot on goal for each team as graduate goalkeeper Archie Watts and graduate goalkeeper
Ricardo Moreno both stopped their respective shot to keep the game deadlocked at zero heading into halftime. A similar theme would be seen in the second half until Boe Tunge netted the lone goal on a corner kick from senior forward
Francisco Sousa just seconds after Watts had turned away the previous Post corner try.
Looking to add to their advantage, freshman forward
Marc Ballart volleyed a ball towards Sousa in the center of the box in the 86th minute, but offsides would be called negating the goal that would have been scored, keeping it at a 1-0 game. That score would hold as Moreno would not face any more shots in the final four minutes of the match, ending his day with four total saves including three in the second half as part of the 1-0 victory to snap Post's three-game winless streak and pull them even at 2-2-1 on the year.
