After an amazing fourteen seasons, 185 wins, two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championships, three conference championship appearances, three NCAA East Regional selections, and four CACC North Division titles, Mike Brienza has decided to step away as head coach of the Post University volleyball program. Brienza will remain in his role as Assistant Director of Athletics. He leaves the program with the most wins in school history, including winning both the 2014 and 2015 CACC titles as well as being named the CACC Coach of the Year three times. He led the Volleyball program to one of the most successful three year stints (2014-2016) in school history as the Eagles had an overall record of 73-27 amassing an unprecedented 46-11 conference mark. The 2016 squad featured a school record 10-game winning streak bested later in the same year by a 14-game winning streak. His teams won CACC North Division titles in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 and along the way coached three CACC Player of the Year recipients and 16 All-CACC conference performers.
In November of 2017, Brienza's illustrious coaching career was recognized at an elite level as he was inducted into the Connecticut Volleyball Hall of Fame. Prior to coming to Post, Brienza was a decorated coach at the scholastic and club level. He guided Jonathan Law High School to a remarkable overall record of 207-47 (.814%) in twelve seasons. For his efforts, he was named Coach of the Year by both the Connecticut Post and New Haven Register in 1999 and 2003. He has also coached fourteen First Team All-State players
