Goldey-Beacom: 11-3 (3-1 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Eagles started off just their second home match of the season with a 25-18 set one win over the Lightning, besting their opponent with a 0.156 attack-kill ratio, compared to Goldey-Beacom's –0.027. Small serving runs from Katalin Kovacs and Kelsea Moore helped the Eagles build their way to a 20-15 lead.

The Lightning would go on to commandingly win the second set, 25-14, scoring five straight points to open and close the set, but Post and Kovacs later regained control of their home court at Drubner Center and took set three as their own. Kovacs served eight straight points in the set, powering her way to four aces over the run and up to four kills in the match.

The Lightning rolled to a 7-0 lead to begin the fourth set behind consistent serving from Juliana Malena. The Eagles kept the set back-and-forth until another service run, this time from Kelci Gingras, put the visitors up, 22-10.

The fifth set would go on to be claimed by the Lightning after three kills from three different Goldey-Beacom players propelled them to a hard-fought win. Mariah Leyva had 17 digs in the match, with teammate Kelsea Moore directly following with 16.

D'Youville: 7-7

HOW IT HAPPENED

Quadrupling Post's kill total in the first set in a 12-3 discrepancy, D'Youville jumped out to a 17-9 lead over the Eagles, led by Maddie Boglev and Madeline O'Brien who each had three kills in the opening set, accounting for half the Saints' kills thus far.

In the second set, the Eagles and Saints traded points before a service run from setter Ashley Ballou gave the Saints breathing room. D'Youville stole the second set 25-19.

In the third set of the match and eighth of the day for Post, the Eagles attempted to battle back. Vivien Andrea Fehervari earned her team the 16-16 tie after a six-point service run, but D'Youville capitalized off Post errors and their own system of play to get the serve back and ultimately win the set, 25-21.

WHO'S NEXT

The Eagles will host the University of Bridgeport on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. The Purple Knights are 19-4 against the Eagles all-time and are currently 1-1 in conference play, losing to Goldey-Beacom, 0-3 and winning versus Caldwell in a five-set showdown.
