HOW IT HAPPENED

The Eagles built their way to a 23-12 lead in the first set after a dominant trip to the service line from freshman setter Grace Tucker. Tucker served nine balls in a row, accumulating two aces along the way. Lilly Chavez, another prominent freshman for the Eagles, connected with Tucker for a kill that sent set one to set point at 24-15 in favor of the Eagles and returned the serve to Post. Chavez herself headed to the back line and finished the set the very next point.

Rayssa Satlher's consistent serves contributed to the longest scoring run of the second set with six points in a row in which the junior had two aces, putting Post up 13-9. The Lions' Ava Churnesky responded with a five-point service run of her own later in the set, bringing her team within two at 19-21. The first set ender, Chavez, headed to the service line again with the Eagles up, 22-19 and again put the set away with some blocking help at the net from Lilly Josephson. Junior Alani Duncan had three kills in the second set and went on to finish the game attacking at a .563 clip with nine total kills.

With two sets away and momentum on their side, the Eagles and middle blocker Duru Karagoz capitalized scoring 16 kills in the set, the most of any set in the match. Karagoz had five kills in the final set, four of them assisted by setter Catelina Luzader.
