Waterbury, CT – Defender
Antoine Trifonov of the Post University men's soccer team was named to the Division 2 Conference Commissioners' Association (D2CCA) All-American Third Team.
It's another honor for Trifonov who has racked them up for his play during the 2022 season.
Earlier this year, Trifonov was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-CACC First Team while leading the Eagles to both the CACC Regular Season and Tournament Championship for the second consecutive year. Trifonov was also named to the D2CCA All-East Region First Team.
This season, Trifonov anchored a backline that allowed just 15 goals this season in 22 games as the Eagles went 16-4-2 overall and 9-1-2 in the CACC as Post went to the Division II Round of 16 for the second time in school history.
The Eagles had 12 shutouts on the season, including an NCAA Super Region 1 win over previously unbeaten Mercyhurst (19-0-1 at the time), 2-0 while not allowing a shot on goal. In his career, Trifonov has been a part of three CACC Tournament Championships and was named to the CACC All-Tournament team after the Eagles' 3-1 win over Alliance in this season's CACC Championship.
Trifonov also had a goal on the season – the game-winner – in a 2-0 win over Holy Family.
Since the All-American teams began in 2006, it is the seventh time a member of the Post men's soccer team has made an All-American team. Most recently,
Sergio Diaz made the team in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
