Box Score Caldwell, N.J. - The Post University women's volleyball team lost a 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 24-26, 16-25) match to Caldwell Wednesday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
The Eagles are now 5-13 overall and 3-6 in the CACC.
Lydimar Soto led the Eagles with 16 kills and tied a team-high with 21 digs.
Zara McCauley had 11 kills and two aces.
Maria Fernanda Branco had 39 assists and 21 digs.
Post took set one, utilizing a 7-0 run to turn a three-point deficit into a 20-16 lead as the Eagles had five straight kills, including two by Soto, one from
Madelynn Boop,
Colleen Romero and Branco. Caldwell scored the next four points to tie it back up, but the Eagles finished on a 5-1 run, including four straight points, to take a 1-0 match lead.
The second set was tightly contested as no one took a bigger lead than three points throughout. The Eagles trailed 23-21 before back to back kills from Soto and
Aniya Goodman tied it at 23-23, but Caldwell scored the final two points, the last on a kill from Reese Sherwood to make it a 1-1 match.
Trailing 23-20 in the third, Post rallied for four straight points on kills from Goodman, Romero and an ace from Soto. The Eagles were serving for the set, but the Cougars scored the final three points, giving them the 2-1 lead.
The fourth and final set sw the Cougars (5-11, 4-5 CACC) take a commanding 15-7 lead after a 5-0 run and never led by less than six points the rest of the way en-route to winning the match.
Goodman finished with nine kills, an ace and a block. Romero had six kills.Â
Sherwood had 13 kills, four aces, 15 assists and 23 digs, all team-highs for the Cougars.
Up next, the Eagles will play a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 8 as they take on Jefferson at 1 p.m. and American International College at 5 p.m.
