WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's volleyball team opens up its 2014 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 6 against Assumption and Saint Anselm in Manchester, N.H. The Eagles continue the road slate on Monday, Sept. 8 against Molloy. The Eagles look to bounce back after failing to reach the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament for the first time since 2010 last year.
 
Scouting the Opposition
The two teams Post will play in New Hampshire were both pick to finish 13th in the Northeast-10 Preseason Poll garnering 41 points each. Last year Assumption finished 6-17 overall, but return its leading offensive player in Mary Johnson, who led the team with 159 kills. Saint Anselm finished 7-20 in 2013, but return NE-10 All-Rookie Team honoree Brennah Gladwill. Molloy was picked seventh in the East Coast Conference poll after a 9-20 season a year ago. The Lions return Sam Berna who led the team with 253 kills a year ago.
 
All-Time Series vs. Assumption
The Eagles and Greyhounds have played just once in the past with Assumption taking home a 3-0 victory at the Drubner Center.

All-Time Series vs. Saint Anselm
Post and Saint Anselm has split the eight meetings between the two since 2003, but the Hawks have gotten the better of the Eagles of late, winning the last three. Last season, Saint Anselm defeated Post 3-0, Morgan Griffin recorded 11 kills and 12 digs.

The Eagles hold a 9-6 lead in the all-time series with the Lions, but have lost five of the previous six meetings. Post has fared well on the road, winning in four of its five trips to Rockville Centre.

Eagles in Season Openers
Since the program transitioned to Division II in 2002, the Eagles are 4-8 in their first game of the season. Post has not begun the season 1-0 since a 3-0 victory to open the year at Molloy in 2005.
 
Approaching Milestones
Julia Slyaktina enters the year with 1,618 assists in her career, good for fourth all-time. She is just one of four players record over 1,000 career assists. Slyaktina enters the year just 725 assists away from Desere Obregon for third place all-time. The senior recorded 753 assists a year ago. Emily Wilman could become just the third player to join the 1,000 kill-1,000 dig club this season. She sits 240 kills and 158 digs away from the milestone.
 
Preseason Prognostications
The Post volleyball team was picked to finish fifth in the CACC North Division in the Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Eagles earned 47 points, just two behind fourth-place Bloomfield. Caldwell and Wilmington were picked atop the North and South Divisions, respectively.
 
On The Horizon
The Eagles head south for the Courtyard by Marriot Boca Raton Invitational on Sept. 12-13. While in Florida, Post will play Fort Valley State, Lynn, Clark Atlanta, and Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.
