PHILADELPHIA (Oct. 24, 2026) -- Eagles Volleyball returned to the win column Saturday afternoon after sweeping Chestnut Hill College on their home court at Sorgenti Arena.
Although the Griffins played more aggressively on the offensive side of the set, attacking 24 more balls than the Eagles, the Eagles attacked more efficiently, at a .081 clip compared to the .016 rate of their opponent. Freshman setter, Grace Tucker, had 12 of the Eagles' 20 assists, connecting the most with sophomore outside hitter, Elyana Ortiz, who finished with six kills. Lilly Chavez also had six kills, and Kata Kovacs trailed just behind the pair, with five kills. Chavez also led the Eagles in digs with ten.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Eagles and Griffins traded the first few points of the match until freshman libero Miley Avenell approached the service line for the Eagles, giving her team a 4-0 run and their first lead of the set. The Eagles never trailed again in the set, and although the Griffins tied the set twice, at 11 and 13, another service run, this time from Tucker, boosted the Eagles ahead, 21-15. Combined with a block from the 'Lilly Duo' of Josephson and Chavez, and a kill from Ortiz to end the set, the Eagles ultimately ran away with the 1-0 lead, 25-17.
In the second set, the Griffins closed in on the Eagles, finishing 22-25, but again, service runs with Chavez and Lily Kunselman at the helm proved to be too much for the Griffins and big-time defense at the net from Alani Duncan with three blocks in a row and five blocks in the set halted any momentum the Griffins almost found. Josephson also worked her way to three blocks in the match.
Redundantly, the Eagles and Griffins traded points in the third set until about the halfway point, when a Griffin error sent Tucker to the back line where she camped for the next five points, giving her team the lead and a light at the end of the tunnel at 19-13. Another Griffin error just five points later sent another lethal server, Kunselman, to the line and she finished the set for the Eagles, carefully returning her team to the rightful win column and putting them over .500 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference for the first time since September 15 when they opened conference play.
WHO'S NEXT
Post will host Felician University October 28 at 6 p.m., swept by their foe the last time the pair met up. Post is 34-9 against Felician all-time, but the Golden Falcons currently sit at number one in the North Division of the CACC standings. Both Post and Felician are 6-5 in the CACC. Felician will seek to end a three-game losing streak at the Drubner Center and the scorching Eagles will look to continue their four-game conference win streak.
