Preview: Eagles Try To Solidify A Top Spot In CACC Tournament

Matchup Against Concordia Highlights Week

Waterbury, Conn. - With just two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games left, the Post University women's soccer team looks to take aim at a top four spot in the conference tournament as they take on Concordia on October 21 at 3 p.m. The Eagles will also play their final non-conference game of the season when they take on Molloy on October 23 at 3 p.m.

The Week That Was
The third-place Eagles (8-4-1, 7-2-1 CACC) were victims of late goals last week as they went 0-1-1 last week, dropping a non-conference game to St. Thomas Aquinas, 2-1 on October 15 and playing to a 1-1 (2OT)  tie on October 18 at home against Georgian Court.

In the game against St. Thomas Aquinas, senior Renel Dennis scored in the second minute, but the Eagles were beat on a goal by Mallory Rae in the 79th minute, giving the Spartans the win. Against Georgian Court, freshman Angela Ciaramella (Hamden, Conn.) scored for the Eagles, who looked like they would win until the Lions scored a goal in the 84th minute to tie it.

It's Good To Be Home
The Eagles did not lose a game at LaMoy Field this season, finishing up 5-0-1 at home. This bodes well for the Eagles as they host the CACC tournament this season. The first round is played at the home of the higher seed, and if the Eagles win their final two CACC games, they will have home field advantage throughout the tournament.

Staying On Top
Renel Dennis (Queens, N.Y.) leads the CACC in goals (13) and points (29).

About Concordia
The Clippers have had a rough go of it in 2014, as they are 0-10-1 overall and 0-9 in the CACC. They haven't won a game since 2011, and haven't won a conference game since 2010.  They have been outscored on the season, 32-4. Four different players have scored for the Clippers this season. In their last game, they dropped a 2-0 game to first-place Philadelphia. The Eagles have had their way with Concordia in their all-time head-to-head meetings, leading the series, 6-1. The Eagles have won the last five meetings, including a 6-0 drubbing last season in which both Tessa Dunster (Stamford, Conn.) and Lexxi Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) both scored two goals for Post.
