Eagles Romp Holy Family For Fourth Straight Victory

Sastre and Moura Record A Goal And Assist Each

Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's soccer team won its fourth straight game on Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 victory over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Holy Family. Sophomore Francisco Sastre (Sao Paolo, Brazil) scored for the second consecutive game and also added an assist.

"We didn't have a great first half and missed on a lot of chances," said head coach Ted Haley. "The guys capitalized on their chances in the second half. We stayed positive and kept moving in the right direction."

Sastre put Post (6-1, 4-1 CACC) on the board early in the second half. Nick Aglira dove on the ball on the right side of the box. Sastre fell but was able to wrestle it away from the keeper and booted from the ground to the top left corner for the score in the 50th minute.

Sophomore Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) hit a header from in front of the net on a cross by Sastre to put the Eagles ahead 2-0 in the 73rd minute. He later assisted on a goal by senior Joe Baccielo (Stratford, Conn.) with a cross on the ground in front as Baccielo knocked it past the keeper.

Senior Steven Vaz (Beacon Falls, Conn.) added one for good measure in the 86th minute. Vaz took a cross from freshman Jason Goja (Naugatuck, Conn.) and scored on a tough angle from the left side.

The Eagles challenged the Tigers (3-4-1, 3-2 CACC) in the first half and held an 8-2 advantage in shots. Their best chance came in the 17th minute when a shot by senior Jean Louis Cadet (Sunrise, Fla.) was stopped by a diving Aglira.

Senior Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica) recorded his fifth clean sheet of the year and has allowed just two goals this season. The Eagles outshot the Tigers 17-5 in the contest.

"Another clean sheet, our whole defense has been great. We are working our way back into the regional spotlight. I'm looking forward to see where we'll land in the rankings this week," added Haley.

Post is on the road against Caldwell on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
