HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior midfielder Lukas Glade, part of last year's team that lost to Bridgeport in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship, sought revenge on the Purple Knights, scoring his first goal of the season just six minutes and nine seconds into the match, assisted by Tommaso Padroni and the Eagles' leading scorer on the season, Eliass Elfasoukhi.
The Eagles controlled the pace and their lead until the 45th minute, just 37 seconds before halftime. Bridgeport's Loic Forsterling scored the equalizer, his third goal of the season, sending his team to the break with momentum.
Coming out of the break, Elfasoukhi scored his seventh goal of the season at 53:29, assisted by Glade. The Eagles' lead lasted almost 17 minutes, until Loik Poder tied the match at 2-2. The next two goals belonged to the Purple Knights just five minutes apart, one from Kristians Prieditis and the second of the game from Poder, nearly snuffing the Eagles' hopes of redemption with just five minutes to play.
Less than a minute after Poder's second goal, defender Pedro Vercosa scored off Francisco Madeira's corner kick at 85:58, but Post's comeback was too late, their night ending in defeat on home turf, failing to defeat their in-state rival for the third time in a row.
WHO'S NEXT
Post will head to Wilmington, Delaware where they will take on Goldey-Beacom University this Saturday, October 10 at 2:30 p.m. The Eagles last faced the Lightning almost a year ago, tying 1-1.
