Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) added 21 assists, two service aces and twelve digs. Sophomore
Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) also had two service aces and 13 digs for the Eagles.
Post started the match out well and kept up with Chestnut Hill for most of the first set. The Eagles used a 3-0 run to take an early 7-5 lead but would not hold it for long. The Griffins then went on a 14-6 run to grab the lead at 19-13. A kill by Brown capped off a 3-0 run for Post, bringing the score to 19-16, but Chestnut Hill scored six straight points to take the set.
The Eagles kept it close at the start of the second set, trailing by just one at 8-7 after another Brown kill. Chestnut Hill then used an impressive 6-1 run to notch a 14-8 lead. Post scored three points in a row to keep it close at 14-11, forcing a Griffin timeout, but it was all Chestnut Hill after that. The Griffins forced a Post timeout after a 4-0 run and would cruise the rest of the way to a 21-16 set win.
Post put the pressure on Chestnut Hill in the final set and hopped out to a 4-1 lead. The two teams battled back and forth the rest of the way. A 5-1 run gave the Griffins a 6-5 lead, but Post would bounce back and eventually snag a 12-10 lead. The Eagles maintained leads of 15-13, 17-16 and 20-19 before the Griffins tied it up at 21 apiece. Chestnut Hill took the final four points of the game to complete the sweep.
It was the second conference loss for the Eagles, who have won only four sets thus far this season. Wilman also had a season-high 18 digs and a service ace, and Brown added a service ace as well for Post.
Chestnut Hill is now 2-2 in the CACC and has won three of its last five matches. Rachel Biro (12 kills) and Madison McBride (11 kills) led the attack for the Griffins.
Post (1-9, 1-2 CACC) hits the court next on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at CACC opponent Dominican at 7 p.m.
