Eagles Fall In CACC Championship, 1-0

Post Defeated In CACC Championship For Third Consecutive Season

NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Post University men's soccer team was defeated by Philadelphia1-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship on Saturday afternoon. This marks the third consecutive season the Eagles have been the runner-up in the CACC Tournament.
 
The Rams got on the board in the 31st minute on a goal by Jordan Lynch. Lynch received a through pass from Ryan Schroy in the middle of the field beat senior goalkeeper Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica) who was charging on the play.
 
Post did not have many chances in the first half and were outshot 6-2 in the period. Its best chance came very early when sophomore Francisco Sastre (Sao Paolo, Brazil) nearly scored from the corner.
 
The Eagles made Rams' goalkeeper Neil Kwiatkowski work in the second half with nine shots, including five on goal. Senior Henry Ipina (Danbury, Conn.) and Sastre both hit the left side bar with shots in the period.
 
Philadelphia played the final four minutes down a man when Victor Chagonda received a red card for slide tackle. Post kept possession on the Rams' end of the field for most of the final few minutes and had two corner kick chances, but could not capitalize.
 
Sastre led Post with three shots on the day. Senior Joe Baccielo (Stratford, Conn.) added two shots. Lindsay made four saves in the loss.
 
The Eagles (15-2-2) will now await their fate as the NCAA Tournament bracket is released on Monday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.
