Box Score

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Sophomore Francisco Sastre (Sao Paolo, Brazil) scored a goal in the 96th minute to push the No. 6 Post University men's soccer team over Nyack 2-1 on Friday afternoon. The Eagles finish the regular season at 14-1-1 overall and 11-1-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

"We played very well in the first half and Terrell found Henry for a nice goal to put us ahead," said head coach Ted Haley. "They came out stong in the second half and pressured us and were able to get the equalizer."

Sastre scored the game-winner on shot inside the box that deflected off Warriors' goalkeeper Tom Lohman's hands and into the net. It was Sastre's ninth goal of the season and second game-winning score in overtime.

Senior Henry Ipina (Danbury, Conn.) put the Eagles on the board in the 35th minute with his first goal of the season. Junior Terrell Whitting (Naugatuck, Conn.) found Ipina inside the penalty area and the senior booted it to the back of the net to put Post in front 1-0.

The Eagles nearly extended their lead in the 59th minute but a shot fired by Sastre hit the post. Marco Likos tied the score in the 78th minute with a goal from 10 yards out. Senior Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica) made a save with four seconds left in regulation to send the match into overtime.

Post scored the winner on its only shot in the extra period. The Eagles outshot Nyack 16-11 and held a 10-3 advantage in the first half. Whitting led Post with six shots, including two on goal.

"Nyack is a very good team. Their record is not an indication to how well they have played this year," added Haley.

The 14 wins ties the most since Post joined NCAA Division II in 2002. The Eagles wend 14-4-3 in 2008 and went on to win the CACC Tournament.

The Eagles will host Bloomfield in the first round of the CACC Tournament on Monday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. Post is the top seed in the tournament while Bloomfield is seeded eighth. The Eagles defeated the Deacons 4-0 in their matchup this season.
