WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University volleyball team won their third Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game of the season on Friday night with a 3-0 victory over Bloomfield. The scores were 25-13, 25-18, 25-17. The Eagles trailed just once, early in the first set, the entire match.
Junior
Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) recorded a season-high 12 kills for the Eagles. Graduate student
Kelli Reynolds (Stamford, Conn.) had 11 kills, one solo block, and two block assists in the victory. Sophomore
Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) recorded 30 assists and three service aces. Graduate student
Vanessa Ramos (Milford, Conn.) and Wilman led the Eagles with six digs each.
Post fell behind 4-2 early in the first set, but responded with an 11-5 run to take a 13-9 lead. Junior
Monica Aristizabal (Tustin, Calif.) had a service ace during the stretch. The Eagles went on another long run, 12-4, to close out the set.
A kill by Reynolds gave the Eagles a 13-7 lead in the second set. Wilman had two consecutive kills during the middle of the stanza to push the advantage to 21-14. Post led by as many as eight in the set.
The Eagles scored eight straight points as part of a 12-4 run to begin the final set. Slyaktina aced two consecutive serves in the stretch. Post led 21-7 after a Wilman ace, but Bloomfield would not let up easily. The Deacons reeled off a 10-3 run to cut their deficit to 24-17 before a kill by freshman
Mariah Morris (Vilseck, Germany) ended the match.
Post will be back in action tomorrow afternoon against USciences in Philadelphia, Pa. The match begins at 1 p.m.
