The Eagles volleyball team takes on two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponents this week as they conclude their six-match road trip. On Wednesday, Sept. 19, Post takes on Felician on the road beginning at 7 p.m. The Eagles return home on Saturday, Sept. 22 to face Holy Family at noon.
 
Felician comes into the week winless in its last 41 matches. The Golden Falcons sit at 0-8 overall and 0-2 in CACC play after falling to Mercy 3-1 their last time out. Senior Jenna Matesic leads the the team with 60 kills and is second with 89 digs.
 
Holy Family sits at 2-11 overall and 0-2 in CACC matches this season. The Tigers fell to West Chester 3-0 their last time out. Freshman Rachael Johnson leads the team and is third in the CACC among freshman with 98 kills.

Senior captain Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) recorded 11 digs at Franklin Pierce to give her 1,000 for her career. The Eagles held late leads in two of three sets, but could not take home a victory.
 
Senior Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Eagles with 11 kills. Sophomore Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) led all players with 27 assists. Hayes and junior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) each had a service ace.

Post is 15-1 all-time against the Golden Eagles. Its only loss against Felician came at home in 2010. The Eagles have only dropped four sets in 16 meetings between the two.

1,000 DIGS FOR THE CAPTAIN
Senior captain Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) recorded 11 digs at Franklin Pierce on Sept. 15 to give her 1,000 for her career. Hayes became the seventh student-athlete in Post history to reach the 1,000-dig milestone.  Coming into the week, she sits at 1,007 digs and is 12 behind Courtney McGinnis (2001-04) for sixth on the all-time list.
 
EAGLES AMONG CACC LEADERS
Sophomore Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) ranks seventh in the CACC with 15 service aces on the season. She is eighth in the conference with 220 assists. Junior Stephanie Zarakas (Patterson, N.Y.) is ninth with six solo blocks.
 
PRESEASON PROGNOSTICATIONS:
Post was selected to finish fourth in the CACC North Division in the Aug. 24 poll. The Eagles garnered 55 votes. Caldwell was picked first in the North with 95 votes, while Holy Family was chosen first in the South with 94 votes. Each received 11 first-place nods.
 
BRIENZA NAMES HIS CAPTAIN:
Sixth-year head coach Michael Brienza named senior Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) the 2012 team captain. Last season, she ranked second on the team in digs with 256, and was the team leader in digs during the 2010 season with 303.
