The Post University women's volleyball team will begin its 2012 regular season on Thursday, Aug. 30, when the Eagles travel to Southern Connecticut State University for a non-conference match against the Owls at 7 p.m. Post will round out the first week of the regular season on Saturday, Sept. 1, when it welcomes Stonehill to the Drubner Center for the home opener.

Michael Brienza named senior
Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) the 2012 team captain. She is ranked seventh all-time in digs with 934, and Hayes needs just 66 to eclipse 1,000 in her career. Last season, she ranked second on the team in digs with 256, and was the team leader in digs during the 2010 season with 303.
Preseason Prognostications:
On Friday, Aug. 24, the Post University volleyball team was picked to finish fourth in the North Division it was announced in the CACC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Eagles garnered 55 points and were just four behind third-ranked Nyack. Caldwell, the defending CACC Tournament champions, was picked to win the North Division with 95 points and 11 first place votes. Tournament runner-ups Holy Family was tabbed to win the CACC South Division.

Post and Southern Connecticut State will meet for the 11
th time since the 2002 campaign. The Eagles are 4-6 all-time against the Owls. Despite wins in the first four meetings, Post has dropped the last six matchups and is 2-3 on the road in the series.

Slow Starters:
Over the last six seasons, Post has failed to win a season-opening match. Under head coach
Michael Brienza, Post is 0-5 in the first match of the season. However, the Eagles won a set in the 2010 season-opener at Molloy, and the 2008 opener against AIC. The last time Post started 1-0 to open a season was in 2005, when the Eagles claimed a straight set win over Molloy on Aug. 29, 2005. The Eagles are 4-6 in season-openers since they became a Division II program in 2002.
On the Horizon:
Post will return to the road on Tuesday, Sept. 4, when it travels to Molloy for a non-conference tilt with the Lions. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. The Eagles will begin CACC matches on Thursday, Sept. 6, when Post hosts Concordia at 7 p.m., at the Drubner Center.
