Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn. – Junior Kevin Ipina (Danbury, Conn.) scored his second goal of the match, the game-winner with 36 seconds remaining in regulation to help the Post University men's soccer team to a 2-1 non-conference victory over NYIT on Tuesday afternoon at LaMoy Field. The multi-goal effort for Ipina marked his first two tallies of the year.

Post (7-2-3) got assists from sophomore Jose Monterroza (Los Angeles, Calif.) and junior Joe Baccielo (Stratford, Conn.). Sophomore Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica) made two second half saves to earn the victory, his third of the year.

With less than a minute remaining in regulation, the Eagles moved into NYIT's half of the field. After the Bears played the ball out of bounds, Baccielo took the ensuing throw in. He found the left foot of Ipina at the top of the 18-yard box, and Ipina buried a shot into the back of the net.

Post, which is ranked sixth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division II East Region Poll, got out to an early 1-0 lead when Ipina scored his first goal of the match. Monterroza played a ball over the top of the defense that was won by Ipina down the right sideline. He dribbled in and finished to the far post to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage.

NYIT (5-5-2) scored the equalizer in the 65th minute on a tally by Jovan Pervaz.

Unbeaten in their last 16 home matches, the Eagles will return to the pitch on Thursday, Oct. 11, when they host Caldwell. Opening touch is set for 3 p.m. at LaMoy Field. Admission to all Post soccer matches is free and open to the public.
