Volleyball Rolls To 3-0 Victory Over Felician On Senior Night

Hayes Records 13 Kills and 22 Digs On The Night

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University volleyball team notched a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win against Felician on senior night. The scores were 25-16, 25-20, and 25-14.The Eagles snap their four-match losing streak and improve to 8-14 overall and 7-7 in conference play with five matches remaining.
 
Senior Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) led Post with 13 kills, 22 digs, and three service aces in her final game at the Drubner Center. Junior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) added 10 kills and 18 digs. Sophomore Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) put up 30 assists and nine digs in the victory.
 
The Eagles fell behind 7-6 in the first set, but reeled off a 10-1 run to pull ahead 16-8. Senior Brieonna Skipper (Rahway, N.J.) launched two service aces during the stretch. Two errors by Felician helped Post extend its advantage to 10 at 23-13.
 
Hayes recorded three consecutive service aces early in the second set to give Post an 8-5 lead. The Eagles extended their lead to 15-9 before a 4-1 run by the Golden Falcons made the score 16-13 and forced a timeout by Post. Senior Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Wilman had kills as the Eagles pulled away with a 7-2 run.
 
Post never trailed in the final set. Consecutive kills by Wilman put the Eagles ahead 10-6 and forced a timeout by Felician. The Golden Falcons pulled within one at 14-13 out of the break. The Eagles put the match away with an 11-1 run. Hayes recorded three straight kills during the final stretch.
 
Seniors Hayes and Skipper were honored and joined by their parents on-court during the senior night ceremonies before the match.
 
The Eagles are back in action tomorrow afternoon at Philadelphia. First service is scheduled for 1 p.m.
