NYACK, N.Y. – The Post University volleyball team lost its fourth consecutive match on Tuesday night at Nyack, 3-1. The scores were 21-25, 12-25, 25-22, and 18-25. The current streak is the longest for the Eagles all season as they drop to 7-14 overall and 6-7 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
Senior
Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) led Post with 12 kills to go along with 16 digs. Senior
Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 11 kills and a solo block. Junior
Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) had 10 kills and 21 digs. Graduate student
Vanessa Ramos (Milford, Conn.) chipped in a season-high 25 digs.
After losing the first two sets, the Eagles never trailed in the third set. Post pulled ahead 12-9 early on back-to-back kills by Wilman and sophomore
Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia). The Warriors came back to tie the set at 16-16. The Eagles led by as many as five at 22-17 in the stanza.
Leading by two at 11-9, Nyack used a 9-4 run midway through the first set to pull away. Post closed the gap to within three at 22-19 with a 6-2 run of its own, but could not draw closer. Chance had two kills during the stretch.
Nyack (12-11, 9-7 CACC) led from start to finish in the second set. After jumping out to an 11-5 lead, the Warriors ran off a 12-5 run to take a 23-10 advantage. Hayes had five kills and four digs in the set.
A block by graduate student
Kelli Reynolds (Stamford, Conn.) pulled the Eagles within two at 10-8 in the final set. Nyack responded with a 7-2 run to extend its advantage to 17-10. Back-to-back kills by Wilman and Chance closed the gap to three at 18-15. The Warriors closed out the match with a 7-3 run.
Post will be back at home for senior night on Friday, Oct. 26 against Felician. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
