Box Score

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The #25 Post University men's soccer team claimed a 1-0 lead in the first half of its non-conference matchup at #2 LIU Post, but the Eagles surrendered three unanswered tallies to drop the game 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon. Junior Jean Louis Cadet (Lauderhill, Fla.) scored the lone goal for Post.

“LIU Post is a very good team and to go up 1-nil on the road was a great start for us,” head coach Ted Haley said. “After we gave up a goal late in the first half, we came out and played well to start the second half. I'm proud of the guys and the way they battled this afternoon.”

Cadet gave Post (11-3-3) a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when he scored on a leaping touch inside the left post off a feed from sophomore Gustavo Ferreira (Betim, Brazil). However, LIU Post (15-1) tied the score at 1-1 on a Leron Haywood tally at the 26:06 mark.

The Pioneers took the lead for good in the 41st minute after Oscar Kjellstrom converted a head ball off a cross from Erik Bjoernoe. Bjoernoe finished the match with a pair of assists.

In the game, Post was outshot 14-7 and LIU Post held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks. Post attempted five shots on goal including two from Cadet. Senior Errol Reid (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) made five saves in the contest.

#25 Post will round out the regular season on Friday, Oct. 26, when it hosts Nyack in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. Game time is set for 3 p.m. at LaMoy Field.
