Volleyball Falls At Caldwell, 3-1

Reynolds Records 11 Kills In Defeat

CALDWELL, N.J. – The Post University volleyball team fell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup at Caldwell on Wednesday night, 3-1. The Eagles won the first set 25-19 before losing the final three 14-25, 21-25, and 15-25. Post drops to 7-11 overall and 6-4 in conference play.
 
Graduate student Kelli Reynolds (Stamford, Conn.) led the Eagles with 11 kills to go along with two block assists. Junior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) added eight kills and one service ace. Graduate student Vanessa Ramos (Milford, Conn.) had 21 digs and one ace.
 
The Eagles fell behind 9-4 in the first set. Out of a timeout, Post stormed back with an 11-5 run to tie the set 16-16. Reynolds and Wilman launched three kills each during the stretch. With the set tied 19-19, the Eagles scored six straight points, helped by four Caldwell errors, for the win.
 
Caldwell (17-9, 10-2 CACC) jumped out to an early 13-8 lead in second set and forced a timeout by Post. Senior Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) and Reynolds had back-to-back kills out of the break to pull the Eagles within two at 13-10. The Cougars closed out the stanza on a 12-4 run.
 
Post scored four straight points, after trailing 6-2 early, to tie the third set 6-6. A kill by Kelli Reynolds gave the Eagles its first lead of the set at 13-12. The teams traded points and found themselves tied 18-18 late in the set. Caldwell went on a 7-3 run to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
 
The Cougars pulled out to a 7-2 advantage in the final set. Hayes launched a kill to cap off an 8-3 run which tied the set 10-10. Caldwell closed out the match from there with a 15-5 run.
 
The Eagles return home on Friday night for a match against Dominican. The Chargers lead the CACC North at 12-0 this season. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
