No. 18 Eagles Strong Second Half Leads To Draw At Dowling

Box Score

BROOKHAVEN, NY (September 28, 2011) After being down 2-0 at halftime, the No. 18 Eagles battled back to a 3-3 draw against Dowling Wednesday night. Hylton Davis provided the offense for Post with two goals in the match.

Dowling, ranked 7th in the east region, went on top early with a goal by Charles Paracat at 20:56. They added a penalty kick at 37:01 to head into the break with the 2-0 lead.

A Davis penalty kick early in the second half put Post on the board and swung the momentum in their favor. He added another at 58:18 on a cross from Byron Garcia to draw the teams even.

Matt Luis put the Eagles ahead 3-2 at 65:56 on a long shot from 20 yards out. Just over 10 minutes later, Stefan Draskovic's free kick from 40 yards out tied the two once again. Both teams had their chances in overtime, but neither could put one home.

“To our credit, with the score two nil at halftime, at one of the toughest places to play, the way we battled back was very gratifying,” said Eagles Head Coach Ted Haley. “We controlled play in a lot of positions and everyone contributed. I'm proud of our team's resilience.”

Post will return to action Saturday afternoon in Wilmington.
