Volleyball Defeats Bloomfield 3-1

WATERBURY, Conn (September 27, 2011) Post University's volleyball team extended their win streak to three Tuesday night at the Drubner Center with a 3-1 victory over Bloomfield. The Eagles are now 3-3 in conference play.

CACC Rookie of the Week Belinda Snider led the way for Post with 12 kills and six block assists. Blocking was key to the Eagle victory as Liz Knight had 7 block assists while Taylor Doyle and Kelly Hayes each added four.

The Eagles controlled play in the first set by jumping out to a 15-5 lead and would not look back winning the first set easily 25-9.

Bloomfield came back in the second set with a 5-3 lead. Kelly Hayes, who had a strong night serving for the Eagles, led the team back to a 10-7 advantage with her serve. After exchanging several ties throughout the set, the Deacons took a 25-22 victory.

In the third set, Post came out swinging hard with a 10-4 lead in the early stages. Before long the advantage was up to 19-13 as the Eagles cruised to a 25-13 win.

In the final set, the tone was set on the first ball when Kelli Reynolds blasted a powerful kill to the floor on the Bloomfield side of the net. Liz Knight had a string of three kills putting the Eagles up 11-5 and on the road to a 25-12 victory.
