Eagle Volleyball Falls to Caldwell 3-0

WATERBURY, Conn (September 20, 2011) Post University's volleyball team put up a valiant effort at home Tuesday night, but it was not enough to overcome the Cougars of Caldwell College. Caldwell took the match 3-0 and remains undefeated this season.

The Eagles were led by Belinda Snider with 10 kills and Emily Wilman had nine. Taylor Doyle added 20 assists and 11 digs. Kelly Hayes had 17 digs on the night.

In the opening set, Caldwell took a 13-8 advantage by the midpoint of the set when Post University coach Mike Brienza called timeout. The Cougars would continue on the attack en route to a 25-15 victory.

The Cougars took a 13-9 led in the second set, but this time the Eagles would rally back making it 18-17. Caldwell extended their lead out of a timeout to go up 21-18 when Monique Chance responded with two thunderous kills making it 21-20.

With the set tied at 23, Doyle committed a service error and Liz Knight had a hard hit ball catch the net as Caldwell took the second set 25-23.

In the final stanza, Post led 8-6 in the early going before Caldwell went on the offensive. An eventual 13-3 run by the Cougars led them to a 25-19 victory to take the match 3-0.

Post University will return to action at 7pm Thursday night at the Drubner Center.
