WATERBURY, Conn (October 15, 2011) Post University's volleyball team was defeated by Goldey-Beacom at the Drubner Center in Waterbury by a score of 3-1. The Eagles fall to 7-16 (6-8 CACC) this season.
Senior setter
Taylor Doyle tallied 39 assists on the day and is now only one away from breaking 3,000 in her career.
Kelli Reynolds tallied 18 kills.
Emily Wilman had nine kills and 15 digs.
In the first set the Eagles led early backed by five consecutive points and three aces from Liz Knight. When the Post lead was extended to 16-10, Goldey-Beacom called timeout. The timeout rallied the Lightning as they came back for a 25-23 victory.
In the second set, both teams exchanged points throughout, but a few attack errors late in the set hurt the Eagles chances as they fell 25-22.
Post went up 4-0 to start the third set and extended the advantage to 13-5 following a Lightning timeout. Knight added two more momentum carrying kills en route to a 25-16 win.
Goldey-Beacom came out strong in the fourth taking a 5-1 edge, but Post rallied to tie it at seven. Slowly the Lightning took a 4 point lead which they held for a 25-21 win.
Post University will return to competition on October 18 at Nyack.
