NEW CASTLE, DE (October 1, 2011) The Post University men's soccer team fell in Wilmington on Saturday, 4-0, for their first loss of the season. The Eagles now stand at 5-1-4 (4-1-2) on the season and are tied atop the CACC standings.
Wilmington went ahead very early on a Manny Payton goal at 2:05. That would be the only scoring in the first half. Despite the goal, the Eagles outshot the Wildcats 6-2 and seemed confident heading into the break.
Kresimir Nurnberger chipped one over
Errol Reid at 61:50 to give Wilmington a 2-0 lead. Eddie Kowalo added one six minutes later.
Jay Benton replaced Reid as keeper, in his first action of the season, late in the second half, and gave up a goal to Tom Quaranta that put the Wildcats up 4-0.
The teams finished tied in shots at 12 apiece, with
Krzysztof Giezek leading the Eagles with five.
Joe Baccielo had two shots.
Wilmington, who have won three CACC titles in the past 10 years, is now 4-4-3 (3-1-1) on the year and in third place in the conference standings.
The Eagles will have another tough test Wednesday night as they travel to Manchester, NH to take on the No. 6 team in the east in Southern New Hampshire University.
