Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn (September 28, 2010) In a thrilling back and forth match at the Drubner Center in Waterbury, the Post University Eagles volleyball team narrowly lost a CACC conference match 3-2. With the win Caldwell stays undefeated in the CACC while the Eagles drop to 4-2 in conference play.

The Cougars took control of the match early on with a 25-14 victory and looked to be headed toward a similar result in the second set. However, the Eagles rallied with a packed house behind them.

An attack error by Caldwell senior Justine Pecora prevented the Cougars from scoring the match winning point. Teresa Hodges then served an ace to close within one point. Another Caldwell error by CACC Player of the Week Amber Mosher put Post University up by one setting the stage for Kelli Reynolds to get a kill making it 26-25 Post. Pecora would have another error in a sloppy play at the net giving the Eagles a second set win.

In the third set, Caldwell cruised to an easy 25-14 victory, but the fourth set went down to the wire. With the score 23 all, Reynolds served for Post as Caldwell freshman Kasey Bausch had an attack error. Another sloppy play, this time by libero Maddy Amon gave the Eagles a 25-23 edge.

Caldwell came out strong in the fifth and final set with a rather decisive 15-11 win.

Liz Knight led the Eagles with 11 kills, while freshman Stephanie Zarakas added eight. Kelly Hayes had 19 digs defensively. Caldwell's Maddy Amon had 29 digs, Lauren Roth had 40 assists, and Amber Mosher registered 19 kills.

Post University will be back in action again Thursday on the road against Bloomfield.
