Volleyball Splits Two on the Road

NEW CASTLE, DE (September 25, 2010) Post University's volleyball team picked up their first conference loss of the season Saturday afternoon when Wilmington defeated the Eagles 3-1. Post University defeated non-conference opponent Mercy 3-0. The Eaglesthem to 5-9 (4-1 CACC).
The first match was played against Wilmington and despite 13 kills in the opening set for the Eagles, the Wildcats won 25-22. Post University rallied to a 25-22 victory in the second set after leading the most of the way.
Wilmington would regain control in the third set after the Eagles jumped to a 2-0 advantage. The Wildcats quickly responded with a 6-0 run, building a lead they would not relinquish. The fourth set was much the same with Wilmington taking a dominating 25-10 win.
Senior Teresa Hodges led the way for the Eagle with eight kills, while both Kelly Hayes and Stephanie Zarakas had seven. Hayes and Monica Aristizabal had strong defensive efforts with 14 digs each.
In the second game Post took three straight sets over Mercy (25-20, 25-19, 25-18). Each of the sets played out about the same with Mercy in the match until the 15th point, but could not keep the momentum to secure a victory.
Hayes had a standout offensive effort against Mercy with 14 kills and 9 digs while Kelli Reynolds added 11 kills. Brieonna Skipper has 11 digs in the game to lead the team defensively.
Post University will be back in action at home Tuesday night against Caldwell. Game time is set for 7pm.
