Eagles edge Concordia, 3-2 in thriller at the Drub

"Not in the Drub!" "Not in the Drub!" That's what fans chanted after Post University's thrilling 5-set victory over Concordia College on Thursday night.

The Eagles barely protected the Drubner Center with a 3-2 victory after trailing for much of the fifth set.

Concordia (1-5, 1-4 CACC) had the Eagles on the mat, leading the final set 10-4, before a raucous Drubner Center crowd buyoed Post University back into the game. Kelli Reynolds capped an 11-4 Eagles run with a thunderous kill that gave Post University a 15-14 lead, its first of the set. The Eagles never looked back, winning 17-15.

Reynolds led Post University with 14 kills, and setter Taylor Doyle racked up 41 assists. Stephanie Zarakas had 10 kills for the Eagles.

Post University (5-7, 4-0 CACC) dropped the first set 25-23 before winning two straight by scores of 25-22 and 25-16. But the Eagles couldn't close out Concordia, which won the fourth set 25-21.

The Clippers were led by senior Amanda Byrd, who recorded a match-high 24 digs. Byrd was also given a yellow card after arguing a call in the second set, but seemed to spark the Clippers whenever they were in need of a rally. Still, just when it seemed like Concordia had the game in hand, Eagles fans took matters into their own hands.Concordia made three errors- including two service errors- in the late stages as the Drubner Center crowd roared.
