Aidan Tross Scores, #15 Men's Soccer Match Against Adelphi Postponed at Halftime

WATERBURY, Conn. -- Junior forward Aidan Tross scored his first goal of the season for 15th-ranked Post University Men's Soccer, but incoming thunderstorms would halt the game for the Eagles at halftime with a 1-0 lead over Adelphi University in the final game of the Post University Kick Off Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Since the two teams did not play 70 minutes, the game will have to start from the beginning should they look to reschedule the match, and statistics from today's game will not count towards official records.

THE BASICS

#15 Post University 1, Adelphi University 0 (Halted at Halftime - Lightning)

#15 Post University (0-0-1)

Adelphi University (0-0-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior goalkeeper Leopold Dufaut would face just one shot in net from the Panthers in the first half, making a routine save against senior midfielder Luca Boast to keep the Eagles ahead 1-0 in the 40th minute of play.

Tross's goal came in the 16th minute of action when graduate defender Iago Rodriguez and graduate midfielder Sami Charaf Amal caromed a pass over the top in the midfield to the junior with space ahead. Never fully losing possession of the ball, Tross was able to bring senior goalkeeper Andrea Farinella far enough out of the net to get some space and hit the right side of the open net to give Post their lone goal.

Farinella would finish the first half with one save and one goal allowed, while Dufaut made the save on the only shot he faced. Despite an abbreviated 10-minute halftime, a lightning strike within 10 miles of the field would force the game into a lightning delay around 3:00 PM, before the game would inevitably be called due to the severe weather around 4:00 PM.

WHO'S NEXT
Post University heads to Southern New Hampshire University to face the Penmen in a rematch of the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament from last season. Southern New Hampshire entered the year ranked 19th nationally and has started 2025 with a 2-0-0 record. The Eagles advanced to the Round of 16 on penalty kicks last fall, 7-6, against the Penmen, after losing in the regular season at LaMoy Field to them, 7-0.
