WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the first time in program history, Post University Men's Lacrosse has itself a USILA Scholar All-American as senior long-stick midfielder
James Sproul was named to the list released on Tuesday morning by the organization. Also picking up their third USILA Team All-Academic Award as the program, as they earned a 3.72 GPA for the 2024-25 academic year, needing only a 3.0 or better to achieve the accolade.
Sproul was a force for the Eagles on the field, primarily on the defensive end, where he accumulated 106 ground balls and 51 caused turnovers, both of which led the team, while having one goal and one assist for two points across 16 games played, all of which he started. The senior's numbers saw him tie his own record for most caused turnovers in a game with six against St. Thomas Aquinas College and Molloy University this spring, as well as put himself second in single-game ground balls with 12 against the University of Bridgeport.
Narrowly missing surpassing his own record for single-season ground balls, Sproul accumulated 112 in 2024, while surpassing his caused turnovers record, which he set at 39 a year ago before his 51 this season. He closes his career with the second-most games played at 58, the most caused turnovers with 110, and the most ground balls with 270 across his four years with the program.
In the classroom, Sproul maintained a 3.75 cumulative GPA throughout his four seasons at Post, while the team had its highest GPA in the history of winning the team award with a 3.72 GPA overall.
