Soarin' Beyond the Sport, Episode 21: Kyle Such (Men's Lacrosse)

Soarin' Beyond the Sport is a series in which members of the Post University Athletic Communications Team sit down with student-athletes across all the varsity athletic programs offered at Post University to learn more about interesting stories about the players off the field, court, ice, etc., in a short interview format. All the interview questions, filming, editing, and write-ups are done by the featured member of the Athletic Communications Team to help them gain new experiences in a variety of important aspects in the field.

In this episode, Athletic Communications Spring Intern Michael Puglio sat down with Post University Men's Lacrosse graduate student Kyle Such earlier in the semester to discuss his time at Post University academically and athletically, the challenges he overcame to play this past season, and life after graduating from Post.

WATERBURY, Conn. -- After graduating from Rivier University, Kyle Such was able to continue his lacrosse career and obtain his master's degree at Post University as a vital part of the Eagles' Men's Lacrosse program. In this interview, the long-stick defenseman discusses his role on the winning team, along with his personal life goals.

Such starts off raving about his social and academic experiences at Post University, highlighting his teammates as a main part of his success. Academically, Such mentioned that he is grateful for his professors as the environment they created was a hands-on experience where they truly wanted to see their students succeed. As a student-athlete, that is a vital part of academic achievement.

The defenseman goes on to talk about his challenges, such as a slew of injuries; however, the student-athlete explained that as the time got closer to the season, those injuries started to fade away. However, early in the 2026 season, Such had a hamstring injury, but it did not keep him down. A vital part of his grit and determination was attributed to head coach Pat Yannarelli, who helped him push through by motivating him to keep showing up and working hard.

Something that Such hopes impacted his team this year was his voice. Stating that communication is one of the most important aspects of lacrosse. The Graduate student led by example, talking constantly and boldly on the field, aiming to teach his younger teammates to speak up and use their voice as they grow in the sport.

When asked about life after lacrosse, Such plans on playing in adult men's leagues in addition to running his own summer team for the past four years. After obtaining his master's in business administration, the long-stick defenseman plans to continue his success as an entrepreneur. Such currently owns a café in Rocky Hill, Connecticut called Sweet B Café, which specializes in coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and lunch. The student-athlete prides himself on the quality of their food because everything in the café is made from scratch.
