Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University women's lacrosse team is set to take on the Dominican Chargers in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament on Tuesday afternoon in Orangeburg, N.Y.
The Eagles, seeded sixth, have now made the CACC tournament the last two seasons after finishing the regular season 5-11 and 4-5 in CACC play under new head coach Deb Delfino.
The two teams met on April 13, with Dominican winning 21-7.
Morgan Cassiliano led the Eagles with three goals that game, while
Athlyn Wood had two. Jordana Tomasetti had six goals to lead Dominican. Grace DeStasio had four.
Post is led by Cassiliano, who this season was named to the All-CACC second team, after leading the CACC in goals with 72 and setting a school record for goals in a season. It was her second consecutive season making the All-CACC team. This season, Cassiliano set the school record for goals in a game, scoring ten goals twice this season. In a win over Nyack Cassiliano became the school's all-time leading goal scorer as she scored her 153rd career goal. She now has 18e in her career.
Dominican had four players named to the All-CACC First team and three named to the second team. DeStasio was named CACC Rookie of the Year, Kristinmarie Kaszovitz was named Goalkeeper of the Year and made the first team. Rob Grella was named CACC Coach of the year.
