WATERBURY, Conn. – Senior midfielder Claire Greene scored a team-high four goals on Senior Day for Post University Women's Lacrosse, while freshman attacker Peyton Tully scored three times, adding two assists as well for five points, as the Eagles squandered an early 6-3 lead to Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, falling 12-10.

THE BASICS

Post University 10, Chestnut Hill College 12

Post University (2-6, 1-6 CACC)

Chestnut Hill College (7-6, 3-5 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman attacker Peyton Tully got the Eagles off and running with a pair of goals to start the first against graduate goalie Mel Amador, helping Post get out to a 2-0 lead at the 8:55 mark of the contest, before Chestnut Hill would respond with a trio of goals of their own to close out the first quarter against senior goalie Niky Johnson. The Eagles would have to kill off a three-man advantage by the Griffins in the second before they went on another run to take the lead.

Greene scored two of her four goals for Post during the 4-0 run, while Tully tacked on her third and final goal of the affair, and sophomore midfielder Caryss Kehl added one as well. Now holding a 6-3 lead, it would end up being Chestnut Hill's turn to blitz the Eagles, accounting for six of the next seven goals scored between the second and third quarters.

After trailing 7-6 heading into the break, graduate defender Elizabeth Deal tied the game with her man-up goal to start the third for the Griffins, followed by goals from freshman attackers Bryce Westervelt and Carlee O'Donnell that gave Chestnut Hill a two-goal lead, 9-7. Momentum ended up swinging back in favor of Post as senior midfielder Anna D'Angelo and graduate midfielder Alyssa Hebb scored back-to-back goals to tie things up at nine all with the third winding down.

But Westvelt's response with 15 seconds left in the third ended up being the start of the final scoring stretch that the Griffins would need to pull away for the victory, scoring three of the last four goals to come away with the two-goal win, 12-10. Both Westervelt and freshman midfielder Samantha Martin tallied three goals and one assist for Chestnut Hill in the win, while Gayton had four points via two goals and two assists.

Post's defense was led by four caused turnovers each from Kehl and D'Angelo, while Kehl also had six ground balls to her name, and D'Angelo had five. In goal, Johnson came away with 10 saves in her duel with Amador, who finished with 13 saves.
