Dear Post Student Athletes,
A quick note on a topic that is in the news.
Both the Connecticut state legislature passed a law permitting college athletes to receive compensation for their name, image and likeness (NIL) and the NCAA adopted an interim policy allowing the same. The Connecticut law and the NCAA policy are both effective July 1.
Connecticut is one of 24 states to pass NIL legislation, and one of 14 whose laws will go into effect this week.Â
While NIL opportunities for student-athletes are opening,
the NCAA policy – across all three divisions preserves the commitment to avoid pay-for-play and improper inducements tied to choosing to attend a particular school. Those rules remain in effect.
Post University is reviewing the legislation and will be developing a policy based upon state and NCAA recommendations. The Athletics Department will be sharing more information with you.
If you have any questions, please reach out to one the athletic department compliance administrators
Karin Mann (

AJ McNamara (

Looking forward to seeing you on campus next month!
Best,
