WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the second time in as many seasons, Post University Baseball landed a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region Player of the Week, as graduate outfielder
Andrew Hartman was named to the honor this evening by the organization.
Hartman dominated at the dish for Post during a 4-0 week for the Eagles in conference play against Felician University and Georgian Court University. Helping Post to ten-plus runs in three of the four games, Hartman went 9-for-14 (.643) overall with two doubles, one triple, two home runs, 15 RBIs, five walks, and four runs scored. The biggest day of the week for the graduate student came on Saturday when he went 5-for-9 with two home runs, including a grand slam in the ninth, with 10 RBIs, including five in each game, with three total extra-base hits to lead Post to an 8-3 and 12-8 victory.
While being the fifth hitter in program history to earn the weekly regional honor, he is the third in the last four seasons from the program to be named to it, as last season
Isaiah Velazco earned it, as well as Matt Goehrig in 2023. This year, Hartman has been named to the CACC Honor Roll once and named the CACC Player of the Week this past week.
The list of NCBWA East Region Players/Pitchers of the Week in Post history is as follows: Stephen Corbett (Hitter, 2011), Don Crook (Pitcher, 2014), Don Walsh (Hitter, 2017), Matt Goehrig (Hitter, 2023),
Matt Semon (Pitcher, 2024),
Isaiah Velazco (Hitter, 2025), and
Andrew Hartman (Hitter, 2026).
Post University hosts Senior Day this Saturday, before its pivotal doubleheader starting at 11:00 AM against Goldey-Beacom College at Municipal Stadium. The two teams have split each of their last four meetings in the last two seasons.
