Waterbury, Conn. – Morgan Cassiliano scored seven goals, and the Post University women's lacrosse team scored less than a minute into the game as they won its fourth straight game, 17-2 over Nyack in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at LaMoy Field.
Post's 5-1 record secures them a record above .500 for the first time in school history as well as a CACC tournament berth for the first time.
The Eagles scored just 34 seconds into the game as Hailey McHenry took a pass from Cassiliano to score her fourth goal of the season. Post was off and running from there.
Cassiliano would score three of the next four goals- with one from Molly Dobratz mixed in - including dazzling behind the back shot as the Eagles led 5-0 ten minutes into the game.
Lauren Chambers, Cara DiStefano, Kate Clemente and a fourth goal from Cassiliano would give Post a 9-0 lead at the half.
Cassiliano scored three of the Eagles first four goals in the second half and took a 14-1 lead at the 20:55 mark.
Two Eagles scored their first goals of their careers as Gabriella Koehler two in the second half, while Leeana Grandel scored her first.
DiStefano added her second and third goals of the game in the second half.
It was the second time in Cassiliano's career that she scored seven goals in a game. She scored seven in a 2019 game against Caldwell. She is currently second in the CACC in goals with 30.
Post outshot Nyack 39-4 and won 12 of 20 draw controls, including DiStefano with five.
In their last three games, the Eagles have outscored their opponents 46-9.
Alison Rozzi scored both goals for the Warriors (0-4).
The Eagles go on the road Saturday, April 24 at Georgian Court to play the Lions in a clash of two of the top three teams in the CACC.
