Shelton, Conn. - Men's Hockey took the ice for the first time in over a month on Saturday night when they took on a strong Wilkes University side at the Sportscenter of Connecticut.
Brandon Brown stood strong in goal in the first period, stopping all 21 shots he saw. The Eagles were limited to four total shots on goal in the first period but would come out with more firepower in the second period.Â
The game's first goal came about seven minutes into the second period when Tyler Hackett connected on his second goal of the season with an assist from Niko Grollman. For Grollman, it was his third assist of the season.Â
Wilkes answered shortly after with a game-tying score by Tyler Barrow
Wilkes did not waste any time finding the go-ahead goal. Minutes later, Angelo Marquart put Wilkes up 2-1 with an unassisted goal.Â
Tyler Hackett (14), Kieran Hurley (9) and Anthony Giacomin (7) led the Eagles in faceoff wins.
"We came out slow in the first but weathered the storm and played good 2nd and 3rd periods" said head coach Pete Whitney. "We earned some grade A chances but were unable to convert on them which would have made a difference in the outcome"
Next up for men's hockey is a home game on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 7:00 p.m. against Saint Michael's College.
