Meet the Staff - Pete Whitney

The first coach in program history, Pete Whitney begins his fifth season as Post University head men's ice hockey coach in 2019-2020. He previously served 11 years as Assistant/Associate Head Coach at The Gunnery School in Washington, Conn. 



In the Eagles' first year on the ice, Whitney led Post to a 3-12 record including a 3-2 overtime victory over Eastern Connecticut in the program's first-ever game.

During his time at Gunnery, the program won five NEPSIHA West titles and qualified for the Elite Eight postseason tournament six times. He has helped place over 80 student-athletes into the NCAA and coached two NHL Draft picks and a Hobey Baker Award finalist.

Whitney has been a scout for the United States Hockey League and was a head coach for Central Connecticut State of the American Collegiate Hockey Association. He is also active in the USA Hockey coaching education program and serves as an instructor for the New York district.
