Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's lacrosse team picked up its second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory of the year defeating preseason conference-favorite Chestnut Hill 7-6 at LaMoy Field on Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Frank Nichols Jr. (Carlsbad, Calif.) led the Eagles three goals, including the game-winner with 6:04 to play in the fourth. Sophomore goalkeeper
Manuele D'Alessio (Mount Laurel, N.J.) was stellar in net, making 15 saves in the win.
Nichols scored the first goal of the game as he buried home a pass from sophomore
Jake Bova (Trumbull, Conn.). The Griffins answered to tie the game, but Nichols put Post in front 2-1 after a quarter as he scored his second with under a minute to play.
The Eagles extended their lead to 4-1 in the second. Senior
Dominick Parente (Monroe Township, N.J.) converted on a turnover by the Griffins in their defensive zone. Post won the ensuing faceoff and junior
Sean Olsen (Old Bridge, N.J.) scored his first of two on the day. Chestnut Hill cut the deficit to just one late in the half. Sophomore
Corey Auten (Stratford, Conn.) scored with 13 seconds left to give Post a 5-3 lead at the break.
The Griffins tied the score at 5-5 in the third, but Olsen put Post back in front through three as he rocketed home a shot from the corner. Chestnut Hill would tie the game at 6-6 with 9:33 to play in the game.
Post killed off an extra-man opportunity midway through the fourth and Nichols Jr. put the Eagles in front for good with his final goal. A late turnover gave the Griffins one last chance, but the Eagles were able to force a turnover to secure the victory.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday night at Felician. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
