WATERBURY, Conn. – Post men's lacrosse returns home this week for two games. The Eagles host Franklin Pierce on Wednesday and Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday. Post is coming off its first win of the season last week against Ohio Valley.

Trevor Buchas (Bristol, Conn.) scored four goals and added an assist in the win.
Post jumped in front 2-0 early in the game after a goal by junior
Alsharif Blackman (Easton, Pa.) with 12:13 left in the first. Ohio Valley added a man-up goal later in the quarter, but Post led 3-1 after a quarter as Buchas scored his first late in the period. Ohio Valley scored three straight times to start the second quarter to pull in front 4-3. Sophomore
Kyle Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) tied the score after a turnover by the Fighting Scots, but the home team pulled in front 5-4 with 5:39 left in the half.
From there the Eagles took control, scoring seven goals in a row through the third quarter to lead 11-5. Buchas scored three times during the stretch. Post outshot Ohio Valley 45-24 in the win and held a 34-26 groundball advantage.
SCOUTING THE RAVENSFranklin Pierce is 2-0 on the season with wins coming over Dominican and Notre Dame de Namur and are receiving votes in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Poll. The Ravens are the second-highest scoring team in the country at 17.5 points per game and have allowed just 4.5 goals per game. Eddie Noonan leads the nation in scoring with 13 goals and six assists. Goalkeeper Don Denman leads DII in goals against average (3.78) and save percentage (.667). Last season Franklin Pierce defeated Post 11-5.
SCOUTING THE ARGONAUTSNotre Dame de Namur, located in Belmont, Calif., is 1-4 on the season with its lone victory coming against Nevada-Reno in a non-NCAA game. The team is 0-2 against NCAA competition. Last time out the Argonauts fell to Assumption 18-5, they will play American International and Dominican before coming to Waterbury. Erik Lind and Nick Wameling lead the team in scoring a 2.0 points per game. As a team Norte Dame de Namur averages 5.5 points per game and gives up 18.5 point per contest.
CLIMBING THE NATIONAL RANKINGSIn the latest NCAA Division II statistical rankings,
Trevor Buchas is 11
th in the nation in shot percentage at 0.591. He has scored a team-high 13 goals on just 22 shots. Buchas is also 21
st in goals per game.
Alsharif Blackman is 22
nd at 5.5 ground balls per contest. As a team, the Eagles are 21
st in the nation with 31.0 ground balls per game.

Jim Griffin named five upperclassmen as captains for the 2015 season.

Frank Nichols Jr., and
Andrew Supanich will lead the team this year. Beatson, Kearney, and Supanich also served as captains last season.
PLAYING SOME OF THE BESTThe Eagles will be playing some tough competition this season. Post will play three teams ranked in the USILA Preseason Poll and one that received votes. The Eagles host #12 Dowling to open the season. Post will also welcome #3 LIU-Post to LaMoy on March 25. The Eagles visit #14 Molloy on April 8 and host Chestnut Hill to close out the year on April 25. The Griffins received votes in the poll.
NORTHEAST CLASSICOn Oct. 12, the Eagles participated in the Northeast Classic Lacrosse Tournament in Braintree, Mass. and played exhibition games against Saint Rose and UMass-Boston. All proceeds from the tournament were donated to cancer research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Mass.
