Eagles Men’s Lacrosse Falls To #4 Dowling

Brownlee Scores Two Goals For Post

BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. – The Post University men's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 4 Dowling, 21-6, on Wednesday afternoon at Golden Lions Field in Brookhaven, N.Y. Freshman Alex Brownlee (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored twice for the Eagles.
 
Post got out to an early lead after winning the opening faceoff. Freshman Troy Walters (Corning, N.Y.) picked up the ground ball off the faceoff and classmate Kyle Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) beat the keeper to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead at the 14:04 mark of the first. Dowling scored five goals throughout the rest of the quarter to hold a 5-1 lead after one.
 
Brownlee scored his first of the game off a pass from sophomore Shane McKay (Hempstead, N.Y.) after a Dowling turnover early in the second quarter. The Golden Lions quickly answered back with six goals and led 11-2 with 4:58 remaining in the half. Brownlee and freshman Tim Wright (Waterloo, N.Y.) each scored before the end of the period to cut the deficit to 11-4 at the break.
 
Freshman Jack Kearney (Sandy Hook, Conn.) and junior Brian Beatson (Fairfax, Va.) added goals late in the fourth quarter for the Eagles.
 
Post grabbed 26 ground balls on the afternoon led by junior goalkeeper Anthony DeRosa (Toms River, N.Y.) with five. DeRosa also stopped a season-high 19 shots. The Eagles had eight caused turnovers with three coming from Walters.
 
The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, April 15 at Chestnut Hill. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
