Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Wilmington On The Road

Young Leads All Players With Four Goals

NEWARK, Del. – Freshman Shannon Young (Centereach, N.Y.) scored four goals, but the Post University women's lacrosse team was defeated 14-7 at Wilmington on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 3-8 overall and 3-5 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
 
Young got on the board at the 26:47 mark of the first half with a score off a pass from junior Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.) to make the score 2-1 in favor of the Wildcats. Wilmington answered with three straight goals before junior Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) halted the run with a score on a free-position attempt to cut the deficit to 5-2.
 
Polaski closed out the Eagles' half with two goals down the stretch, including one with 1:22 remaining off an assist by senior Meghan Diggett (East Islip, N.Y.). Post trailed 8-4 at the break.
 
Wilmington put the game away with six straight goals over the first 15 minutes of the second half to just in front 14-4. Young scored the final three goals of the game, one with a man advantage. Polaski also assisted on a late goal.
 
Four Eagles picked up five ground balls on the day, including senior goalkeeper Kathy Walker (Dorchester, Mass.) who finished with 15 saves. Polaski led Post with three caused turnovers and four draw controls.
 
The Eagles play their final road game of the season on Tuesday, April 8 at Nyack. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
