Eagles’ Second Half Comeback Falls Short Against Georgian Court

Polaski Scores Four Goals, Two Assists

WATERBURY, Conn. – After finding itself down 8-2 at the half, the Post University women's lacrosse team battled back to pull within three before falling to Georgian Court 12-7 at LaMoy Field on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Junior Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.) scored a season-high four goals on the day. She also had two assists, five ground balls, and eight draw controls. Senior Morgan Kanavy (Syracuse, N.Y.) had two goals and an assists. Senior Meghan Diggett (East Islip, N.Y.) added a goal for the Eagles.
 
Kanavy forced her way to the net early in the second half and scored her second of the day with 27:10 remaining to cut the deficit to 8-3. Later in the half, she found Polaski across the middle for a score.
 
After a goal by the Lions, Polaski picked up a ground ball and took it coast-to-coast for her third goal of the game. Diggett cut the Post deficit to three with 7:54 left off an assist from Polaski, but the Eagles couldn't get any closer. Polaski scored her final goal with 1:30 remaining, but Georgian Court added two extra-man goals in the final minute.
 
The Eagles were outshot 30-19 and the Lions held a 21-16 advantage in ground balls. Senior goalkeeper Kathy Walker (Dorchester, Mass.) made 12 saves on the afternoon.
 
Post will be back in action on Saturday, April 5 at Wilmington. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
