Polaski Breaks Single-Season Points Record

Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn. –  The Post University women's lacrosse team was defeated at home by Bridgeport 10-8 on a rainy Tuesday afternoon in its final non-conference game of the season. Junior Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.) had six points on the day to surpass the Eagles' single-season record of 69 that she held last year. She has 72 points this season.

Post got on the board early as senior Morgan Kanavy (Syracuse, N.Y.) beat the keeper just over a minute into the game off a pass from Polaski. Polaski scored her first of four goals on the day later in the half on a free-position attempt. Junior Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) put the Eagles in front 3-0 with 20:58 remaining in the period.

Alexia Costa put the Purple Knights on the board with 12:59 left in the half to start a six-goal rally. Allie Wiggins scored three times during the comeback to put Bridgeport ahead 6-3. Freshman Shannon Young (Centereach, N.Y.) made the score 6-4 at the break with her first of two goals on the day.

The Eagles would never get closer as Bridgeport scored the first two goals of the second half to jump in front 8-4. Young and Polaski closed the gap to two again with 14:49 left with goals just 11 seconds apart. After two more scored by the Purple Knights, Polaski scored the final two goals of the game.

Post held a 13-7 advantage in draw controls led by Polaski and senior Meghan Diggett (East Islip, N.Y.) with five each. Senior Kathy Walker (Dorchester, Mass.) added 13 saves. Walker leads the nation with 220 saves on the year.

The Eagles return home for their final game of the season on Thursday, April 17 against Dominican. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
