Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – Senior
Meghan Diggett (East Islip, N.Y.) became the first member of the Post women's lacrosse 100-goal club with two goals on the day, but the Eagles fell to Chestnut Hill 18-16 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Friday afternoon.
Freshman
Shannon Young (Centereach, N.Y.) scored a career-high six goals on the day and also added an assist. Young has 15 goals in the last three games. Senior
Morgan Kanavy (Syracuse, N.Y.) and junior
Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) each had three scores and an assist. Sophomore
Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.) added two goals and two assists.
The Eagles controlled the first half and led 11-8 at the break. After falling behind 1-0, Young answered back for Post with three-straight goals to take a 3-1 lead with 19:47 left in the period. The Griffins tied the game at 3-3 before Young and Polaski helped Post build a 5-3 advantage.
With the score 5-4, Young, Diggett, and Polaski each scored in under a minute to give the Eagles their largest lead of the game at 8-4 with 10:42 remaining in the half. The teams traded scores for the remainder of the period, Diggett scored her milestone goal at the 6:36 mark to put Post in front 10-6.
The Eagles outshot Chestnut Hill 22-13 in the first half and forced 12 turnovers.
Chestnut Hill scored five straight times to open the second half to take a 13-11 lead before Kanavy stopped the run with her second goal of the game. The Griffins answered back with two more goals to build their largest advantage of 15-12 with 12:07 left.
Post grabbed back the momentum with four straight goals capped by a free-position score by Baez to pull in front 16-15 with 4:16 remaining. Jacklyn O'Leary tied the game on a free-position attempt with 1:09 left to send the game into overtime.
Samantha Herron scored her third of the game early in the overtime to give Chestnut Hill the lead for good.

The Eagles are back at LaMoy on Sunday, April 13 against Philadelphia. Game time is set for noon.
