Box Score CALDWELL, N.J. – The Post University women's lacrosse team improved to 3-5 overall and 3-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with a 13-7 victory over Caldwell on Thursday afternoon. Junior
Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) and senior
Morgan Kanavy (Syracuse, N.Y.) each scored four goals for the Eagles.
Kanavy put Post on the board at the 22:27 mark of the first half. Senior
Meghan Diggett (East Islip, N.Y.) scored her first of two goals later in the half on a pass from junior
Miranda Polaski (Agawam, Mass.). Caldwell answered back with two straight goals to tie the game 2-2 with 10:49 left in the half.
The Eagles won the ensuing draw and Baez scored quickly to put Post in front for good. Post closed out the first half scoring four of the final five goals to take a 6-3 lead into the break.
Freshman
Shannon Young (Centereach, N.Y.) and Baez each had two goals as the Eagles built their largest lead of the game at 10-4 with 13:56 remaining in the game. The teams traded goals for the rest of the half and Kanavy put in the final Eagles' score with 30 seconds left.
Post was outshot 28-23 on the day and 24-21 on goal. Senior goalkeeper
Kathy Walker (Dorchester, Mass.) tied a season-high with 17 saves. The Eagles grabbed 13 ground balls, five by Polaski.
The win breaks the Eagles' single-season record for most victories. It is also the first time Post has won three CACC games in a season.
The Eagles head to Dominican on Saturday, March 29. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
